Over the course of her PhD candidacy, Sarah’s research has focused on the development of a novel three-dimensional model of blood vessel morphogenesis. She is now applying this model to explore the role of cell mechanics in the formation of new vasculature. Sarah received her B.S. from the University of Washington in 2008 and after two years of travel and work she entered graduate school at the University of Pennsylvania. Sarah is currently in her fourth year of PhD candidacy and upon graduation hopes to pursue a career in science journalism. Hailing from the Pacific Northwest, Sarah enjoys sailing, hiking and raincoats.
