2 Minute Medicine press release terms

These terms apply when you submit or buy a press release placement, a pack of credits or an add-on from 2 Minute Medicine, Inc. ("2 Minute Medicine", "we") through this website. By submitting a release, completing checkout or ordering an add-on, you agree to them for yourself and for the organization you name ("you").

1. The service

We publish your press release on 2minutemedicine.com in our Press releases section, with the placements included in the package you choose, and make the add-ons you order. Every release is labeled as paid content from your organization. We do not write, fact-check or endorse press releases, and publishing one is not news coverage by our physician editors.

2. Who may submit

You must be authorized to publish the release for the organization it is about. If you are an agency or another representative, you confirm that your client has authorized the release and these terms, and you are responsible for your client's compliance with them.

3. Our review

Every release goes through automated checks, and some go to a person. We may ask you to change a release, or decline it, including under our guidelines. We aim to decide within one business day. If we decline a release, or don't decide within 48 hours of your order, the hold on your card is released, you are not charged, and a credit used for it is returned.

4. What you promise

You confirm that your release and everything in it, including images, logos, links and quotes:

  • is accurate, not misleading, and supported by evidence where it makes health or scientific claims;
  • is yours to publish, and doesn't infringe anyone's copyright, trademark, privacy or other rights;
  • complies with the laws and regulations that apply to it, including those on advertising (for example the FTC Act), on the promotion of drugs and medical devices (for example FDA requirements on fair balance, important safety information and approved uses) and on securities;
  • contains no health information about an identifiable patient without that patient's written authorization;
  • contains no material non-public information, and is not an offer or a promotion of a security or other investment.

Publishing on 2 Minute Medicine is not a regulatory disclosure. Public companies must also use a channel that meets their disclosure obligations, such as a wire service.

5. Labels and links

We label every release as paid content from your organization, at the top and bottom of its page, in our feed and in its placements. Links in releases tell search engines that they are sponsored. You may not describe a release as coverage, a review or an endorsement by 2 Minute Medicine.

6. Payment

Prices are shown before checkout. When you order a release, we place a hold on your card for the price of the release and its add-ons and charge it when your release is approved. Payment methods that can't be held are charged at checkout and refunded in full if we decline the release. Packs are charged when you buy them. Once a release is published, its fees, including its add-ons, are not refundable, except as these terms say or the law requires. Prices exclude taxes where taxes apply.

7. Packs and credits

A pack gives you credits for releases of one package, at the price shown when you buy it. Each credit pays the package fee for one release; it does not pay for add-ons or taxes. Credits bought while you are in a team belong to the team. Credits can be used until the date shown in your account (12 months after purchase unless the pack said otherwise when you bought it); unused credits then expire. Credits have no cash value, can't be transferred outside your team and are not refundable, except that a credit used for a release we decline, or that you withdraw before our decision, is returned to your account. If a pack payment is refunded or reversed, its unused credits are cancelled.

8. Teams

A team lets several people work on the releases of one organization or agency. The person who starts a team (the "team owner") invites people and can remove them, and is responsible for team members' compliance with these terms. A person joins only by accepting an invitation; joining shares the releases they started with the team. Team members can see, change, submit and pay for the team's releases, use its credits and see its reports. Releases and credits stay with the team when a member leaves.

9. Monthly invoices

If we agree to invoice your team monthly, releases we approve, with their add-ons, are billed on an invoice sent early in the following month. Invoices are due within 30 days. If an invoice is overdue, we may stop invoicing, hold or decline new releases, and charge interest on the overdue amount at 1.5% a month or the highest rate the law allows, whichever is lower, plus reasonable costs of collection. Fees for releases we published remain due even if a release is later removed under section 13.

10. Placements

Where your package or add-ons include them, we place your release in the Daily Brief email on the send day you choose, post it on our social media accounts, and show it in featured boxes and pinned positions on our website, each labeled as paid. If that day's email isn't sent, or a technical problem stops a placement, we place it in the next one. Social posts follow each network's rules and may be limited or removed by the network. We decide the design, timing and position of placements, and we don't guarantee the number of recipients, opens, impressions or clicks they bring.

11. Graphics (add-ons)

What we make. If you order a visual abstract or an inline chart, we make it with automated tools from the text of your release, in our design, and show you a preview before you order. A graphic shows only facts and numbers from your release, so errors in your release will appear in it; you are responsible for checking that it is accurate before you order and before you use it. Graphics are not reviewed by our physician editors.

Ownership. We own the graphics and their design. Your name, your logo and the content of your release remain yours.

Your license. We make the graphics to go with your release, and they are yours to use as you please. Once your release is published and paid for, we grant you a non-exclusive, worldwide, perpetual, royalty-free license to copy, display, publish and distribute each graphic for any lawful purpose and in any medium, including your website, social media, presentations, posters, print, newsletters and media materials. You may resize or crop a graphic. You may not change its words or numbers so that they no longer match your release, remove or obscure its license line, or use it to suggest that 2 Minute Medicine wrote, reviewed or endorses your release, your organization or its products. The license ends if you breach these conditions.

Your logo. If you ask us to show your logo, you confirm that you own it or may use it, and you allow us to place it on your graphics and show them with your release.

Our use. We may show the graphics with your release, in its placements and reports, and, after the release is published, as examples of our work.

12. Timing and embargoes

We publish a release at or after the time you choose, never before it. Our review or technical problems can delay publication; we aim to publish within minutes of the time you chose. If a journal or meeting has set an embargo on your news, the time you choose must respect it.

13. How long releases stay up

Releases stay in our archive. You may ask us to correct a factual error, and corrected releases say that they were updated. We may remove or change a release, or stop showing its graphics, at any time if it breaks these terms or the law, if we receive a credible legal complaint, or to protect our readers. Otherwise we don't remove releases on request, and a removal doesn't entitle you to a refund unless we removed the release in error.

14. Reports

We report the readership of your release from our own measurements: page views, readers, reading time, link clicks, Daily Brief clicks, search data and social media numbers, as described on the report. We don't guarantee any number of readers or clicks, media coverage, search rankings or mentions by AI tools.

15. Permission to publish

You give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to publish, display, store and distribute your release, its images and your logo on our website, in our feeds, emails and social media accounts and in our archive, and to change their format and length for those places without changing their meaning.

16. Responsibility for your content

You are responsible for your release and for how you use the graphics. You will defend and indemnify 2 Minute Medicine and its officers, employees and contractors against claims, losses and costs, including reasonable legal fees, that arise from your release, your logo, your use of the graphics or a breach of these terms.

17. Liability

The service, the placements and the graphics are provided as is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits or lost data, and our total liability for a release, including its placements and add-ons, is limited to the fees you paid for it.

18. Accounts

Sign-in links and codes are sent to your email address, so keep access to it secure. We may suspend accounts or teams that break these terms or that we reasonably believe are fraudulent.

19. Privacy

We use your contact details to run the service and to send you reports, as our Privacy Notice describes. Reports show readership in aggregate, including the roles and specialties of signed-in readers in groups large enough not to identify anyone, and never identify individual readers.

20. General

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. We may update them for future orders; the version in force when you placed an order applies to it. If part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
