Professor and Chair of the Department of Pediatrics, University of Vermont College of Medicine

Dr. First is a general academic pediatrician who has been chair of the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Vermont College of Medicine and chief of the Vermont Children’s Hospital at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, Vermont for the past twenty years.  In addition, he currently serves as Editor-in-Chief of the journal Pediatrics, chair of the National Board of Medical Examiners, and educates the public weekly through radio and television news segments as well as a newspaper column  all entitled “First with Kids”.
