We begin this episode by discussing two articles of the week, Our first article of the week comes from JAMA and is entitled “Associations of cardiometabolic multimorbidity with all-cause and coronary heart disease mortality among black adults in the Jackson Heart Study”. Our second article of the week comes from JAMA Neurology and is entitled “Association of hearing aids and cochlear implants with cognitive decline and dementia: A systematic review and meta-analysis.”
In the second half of our episode, we bring a medical eye to popular events. We begin by discussing antibiotic resistance and the current shortage of shortage medications. Then we discuss a recent announcement from the Cleveland Clinic and discuss whether healthcare providers should be billing insurance companies for messages on MyChart that require clinical expertise to answer. We end the episode by having a conversation about the causes of hearing loss and systemic consequences of volcano eruptions in light of Mauna Loa’s first eruption in nearly 40 years!
